About me.
Hi, I’m Dr Kat Schneider, a researcher passionate about making sport and movement spaces more inclusive, supportive, and stigma-free. Based at the Centre for Appearance Research in Bristol, I collaborate with academic and industry partners to tackle issues like body image and weight stigma, turning research into real-world impact that helps everyone feel welcome in active spaces.

I work with organisations like Nike, Dove, Everybody Consulting, Diabetes UK, Lipoedema UK, ELT Method Coaching, Tooled Up Education, and higher education institutions to create and deliver engaging workshops and presentations that help coaches, fitness professionals, healthcare professionals, parents, teachers, students, and athletes build body confidence and tackle weight bias.
My research focuses on body image, weight bias, and weight stigma, particularly within sport and exercise settings. I’m passionate about conducting applied research that creates real-world impact and helps make movement spaces more inclusive, accessible, and supportive for everyone. My work spans schools, sport, and media, and includes designing, evaluating, and strategically mapping interventions to support body image and mental well-being.
